ALO ( Animal Liberation Orchestra)

ALO aka Animal Liberation Orchestra, weird name right.....but the music isn't. The music is phenomenal. If you are a Jack Johnson fan, this group is for you. ALO is super good friends with Jack Johnson, and is currently signed with Brushfire Fairytales ( Johnson's Record company). These guys are always playing music with Jack, for instants Jack will just show up to ALO's concerts and play,or visa versa. Anyways enough said about Jack Johnson, lets start on with ALO. Listening to these guys at first I hated them, but after a few good weeks I turned my iTunes on again and decide what the heck I'll give these guys another shot. What do you know, yah I fell for the music. They did one song with Jack Johnson, Girl I Wanna Lay You Down, but in my opinion its all about the song Babarque. Great song, great music, and great people. The members of the band are super down to earth and very true in their songs. But like I said before, the music is very similar to Johnson's, but at the same time has a different grove, so if you like Johnson's music give them a shot.

Bon Iver

Bon Iver, not the most popular and mainstream musician I have ever seen, but that is why I'm going to enlighten you on this man. Just recently my friend was watching a long boarding video, and Iver's song, Skinny Love was playing in the background. Just listening to the 30 second clip of his song, made me run to my computer and find this artist, I needed to find out who he was. Once I did find it, I listened to his album, and assested it. I discovered Bon Iver wasn't your regular musician. Listening to it, I felt that I was just in the wilderness, relaxing my life away. The music he plays is very calming and gentle, no crazy dance beats or rap, just a nice old accoustic guitar. His whole Album, which is For Emma, Forever Ago is filled with amazing accoustic strums. Ivers voice is very grainy, but I think that makes his music unique, because he isn't like everyone out there, he is kinda like a Bob Dillon. I would say the best song on this album is definitly Skinny Love, but Flume doesn't fall far behind. If you are looking for a nice cool evening where you just want to chill and tune out to some music, then For Emma, Forever Ago is definitly for you. Also, if you are a Twilight fanatic, one of his songs is on the New Moon soundtrack.

Ray Lamontagne

Yes that right, our first review, its gonna be a quick and fast one. Lamontagne released a new album Gossip in the Grain about one year ago. Not many people know of this musical genius and his songs, but you may be familar with the song Trouble. Trouble was recently featured in the Travelers Insurance commercial. Anyways enough said about the past, this guy is amazing, he is one of my favorite artists. Gossip in the Grain is an amazing album. If you are looking for something that is soothing, but at the same time gives you the vibe of the 60's/70's, then this is your CD. I cannot say one bad thing about this guy. Ray is one of those guys who can throw down an amazing deep cut. For example there is a local station here in Colorado that records live versions of singers, song writers from around the world. This local station KCBO 97.3 recorded Ray singing Three More Days ( which isn't from Gossip in the Grain) , but the recording turned out to be one of the best live sets that I have ever heard. Rolling Stone gave Gossip in the Grain 3/5 stars, but I'm going to have to disagree with Rolling Stone here I'm giving Gossip in the Grain 4/5. Yes the album isn't perfect, but its pretty close. Give his music a shot, because you wont regret it, because like Ray says, Let it be Me, but in his case him.
